In practical terms, it is used to make sure soybeans have the right microbial partner available at planting, especially in fields where native rhizobia may be absent or less effective.


Why it matters

Soybeans need a large amount of nitrogen to produce a good crop, and nitrogen fixation can supply a major share of that demand through the soybean-rhizobia symbiosis.
