Thiobacillus thiooxidans
Thiobacillus thiooxidans is a sulfur-oxidizing bacterium that enhances soil health by converting elemental sulfur into plant-available sulfate. Ideal for crops grown in alkaline or sulfur-deficient soils, it naturally lowers soil pH, unlocks bound nutrients, and promotes stronger, more efficient nutrient uptake.
Note: Available in 250g packaging
Thiobacillus thiooxidans is a highly specialized sulfur-oxidizing microorganism used to improve soil fertility, correct alkaline conditions, and increase nutrient availability. By converting elemental sulfur into sulfate, it provides plants with an essential macronutrient while simultaneously acidifying the root zone in a controlled, biological manner. This makes it especially effective in calcareous, high-pH soils where phosphorus, micronutrients, and sulfur remain unavailable to plants.

Improves sulfur availability by converting elemental sulfur into sulfate, the bioavailable form required for plant growth.
Lowers soil pH naturally, helping unlock phosphorus and micronutrients (Zn, Fe, Mn, Cu) in alkaline soils.
Enhances nutrient uptake efficiency, resulting in stronger vegetative growth and improved crop quality.
Boosts soil microbial diversity and promotes healthier root-zone conditions.
Supports sustainable soil management by reducing the need for synthetic acidifiers and improving long-term soil structure.
Ideal for calcareous soils, orchards, vineyards, field crops, and reclaimed land.
Thiobacillus thiooxidans functions through biological sulfur oxidation, a process where the microbe converts elemental sulfur (S⁰) into sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄). This acidification:
Releases plant-available sulfate (SO₄²⁻) for direct uptake.
Dissolves bound minerals, increasing the solubility of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and micronutrients.
Gradually reduces soil pH, improving nutrient availability and root-zone conditions.
The organism thrives in low-pH environments and continues oxidizing sulfur throughout the season, enabling a sustained, controlled nutrient release.
Application Method Recommended Dosage Details Recommended Time to Apply In-Furrow
500 g/10000 sqm/ha
